Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Referral Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical terminology and office procedures to facilitate patient referrals efficiently.
Duties
- Coordinate patient referrals to specialists, hospitals, or other healthcare providers
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for referrals
- Ensure accurate coding of medical records and adherence to ICD-10 and HIPAA regulations
- Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding referral status
- Maintain detailed documentation of all referral activities
- Collaborate with medical staff to streamline the referral process
Experience
- Proficiency in ICD-10 coding and medical terminology
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and insurance verification
- Knowledge of ICD-9 codes is a plus
- Experience in a dental office or medical records management is advantageous
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding, including ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding
- Proficiency in medical records management and insurance verification processes
- Experience in a medical office setting with knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Ability to navigate managed care systems and perform dental office tasks
- Prior experience in handling sensitive patient information and maintaining confidentiality
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
