Job Title: Assistant Coach - Swim Team

Highland Vista Aquatic Club (HVAC) is looking for an Assistant Coach for the 2025 summer swim season. The HVAC was established in 1957 and is a member of the Southern Arizona Aquatic Association (SAAA). The pool is located at the corner of 7th St and Cloverland Ave in the Highland Vista Cinco Via neighborhood.
HVAC is a well-established team with approximately 80-100 swimmers and a strong connection to the families in Highland Vista and surrounding neighborhoods. The team fosters a competitive environment that encourages families to commit to the season competitively while fostering a fun summer experience, which brought home the championship trophy many times over our 65-year history. The team is supported by a strong parent volunteer network.
Job Summary
Our season starts April 7, 2025, with afternoon practices (M-T-W-Th). After Memorial Day we switch to morning practices from 7:00 to 11:30 AM (M-F). Season ends mid-July with SAAA Championships. Times are subject to change and coaches availability.
ASSISTANT COACH
Duties/Responsibilities:
- The assistant coach is required to attend all practices, meets (11) and weekend invitationals (3), and support the other coaches.
- Manage a swim practice with athletes of varying skill levels
- Write a practice plan with the guidance of head coach.
- Be a positive role model for swimmers and carry out the goals and values of the HVAC Swim Team
- Have fun!
Minimum qualifications:
- Competitive swimming experience is required; prior swim team coaching experience is preferred.
- Enthusiastic about helping young athletes (Ages 4-18) learn about the sport of swimming.
- Can write their own practice plan with the guidance of head coach.
- Already have or willing to take classes to earn USA swim coach certifications (CPR, FIRST AID, Swim Coaches Safety)
- Has coached age group athletes and/or senior athletes in a competitive swim
- environment.
- Min 18 years old with High School diploma.
- All positions must complete a background check, Safe Sport training, CPR/Lifeguard training
