JOB TITLE Tennis Professional L1 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
General Statement of Duties: Performs a variety of duties associated with the operation of the HRCA Tennis Program at the Tennis Pavilions and outdoor courts. Teaches on-court tennis programming including group and private lessons, drills, camps, and other tennis programs. Works in conjunction with other tennis professionals and staff members to promote the tennis program and quality customer service. Supports the Tennis/Pickleball monitor desk model by providing information about on-court functions and needs.
Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of the Head Tennis/Pickleball Professional.

JOB DESCRIPTION

- Implements Tennis Programs in line with the HRCAs mission and values. Ensure programs and procedures comply with the HRCA recreation program guidelines and the direction set by the Head Tennis/Pickleball Professional.
- Provides tennis programming including group and private, leagues, clinics, camps, tournaments, and socials as assigned.
- Role models tennis professionalism in dress, teaching style, and direct customer service. In conjunction with the Head Tennis/Pickleball Professional trains the Assistants to display a professional appearance, proper on-court behavior, ball feeding techniques, as well as appropriate drills, games, and consistency in teaching the various strokes.
- Supports the tennis desk functions. Provides information to clarify on-court functions, events, programs, and fee collection; assists in the implementation of a customer service model that enhances positive communications and support for all customers, both internal and external.
- Ensure the safety of all tennis participants and staff members by implementing and monitoring procedures to meet safety guidelines/expectations.
- Take responsibility for the safe use and maintenance of program equipment. Completes tasks to ensure that equipment is used properly and maintained.
- Performs related duties as assigned and required.
Physical and Environmental Standards: Will be working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoor work is in a busy office where noise and interruptions prevail. Outdoor work can be performed in different types of conditions including, but not limited to heat, humidity, sun, wind, cold, rain and snow. Must be able to frequently sit and occasionally walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, push or pull. Manual dexterity is needed to type, write, use a calculator, and answer the phone. The ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face-to-face communication is needed. Vision requirements include near and far acuity. Upper body strength is a requisite to lift/move a maximum of 40 pounds unassisted and 60 pounds with assistance. Multitasking, meeting deadlines, and the ability to both accept and provide direction are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of tennis programs including leagues, tournaments, lessons, development programs, clinics, camps, and special events for participants of all ages. Knowledge of block time and tennis reservation systems. Knowledge of tennis desk procedures and customer service functions. Ability to organize, manage, and direct multiple divisions and perform multiple tasks. Computer literate. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, with internal and external customers. USPTA Level 1 or PTR Professional certification Level 1 or better is required. Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Education: A minimum high school diploma is required.
Experience: Minimum two (2) experience teaching and working with tennis programs preferred.
