Import Specialist
Primary Location: Memphis, TN
Work Schedule: Job hours are onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00am 5:00pm. Must be
able to work after-hours as needed.
Essential Job Duties:
- Oversee the Day-to-Day tracking and tracing of ocean container and airfreight imports via Excel reporting and 3PL provider tracking portals.
- Document and monitor freight forwarder and internodal drayage providers performance to ensure that internal and external customer service targets are met.
- Coordinate import ocean container and airfreight delivery schedules through direct communication with freight forwarders, drayage and 3PL providers, and distribution center operations teams.
- Audit freight forwarder, drayage and 3PL providers invoices for charge accuracy and payment.
- Assist in freight claim process: Investigation, claim filing, progress tracking until freight claim closure.
- Perform data-entry, as well as issue resolution in ERP / TMS systems.
- Support onboarding and relationship management of external 3PL service providers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within company such as sourcing, purchasing, finance, sales and operations to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- MS Excel report generation and analysis: Formulas, Pivot Tables, Charts and Graphs.
- Assist in special projects as needed.
Education and Experience Requirement:
- A High School diploma is required. Advanced collegiate coursework preferred.
- MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint Intermediate knowledge level at minimum.
- Knowledgeable in AS/400 and other ERP / TMS software.
- 3 years customer service experience, preferably in a distribution or freight forwarder environment.
