Overview
This position will be responsible for the processing of import declarations for the entry of imported goods into U.S. commerce. This position will be entrusted a book of business for that accurate and timely processing of entry documentation. Typical responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Entry Processing
- Classification of goods according to USCBP ROIs and HTSUS
- Post Summary Corrections and Protests
- Preliminary Entry Summary Auditing
- Partnering with importers to assist with CBP communications in various situations
- CBP 28’s & 29’s, ADD/CVD cases, GSP/FTA verification requests, etc.
- Staying up to date on industry trends and new compliance regulations
- Keying of entry header and line level data
- Transaction value calculation including determination of Dutiable and non-dutiable charges from commercial documents
- Direct coordination with Client’s on entry requirements
- Processing of Partner Government Agency claims and other statistical reporting requirements
- Writing Marine Insurance
- Partnering with Client’s as a consult for entry processing
- Other duties as may be directed
Day-to-Day Activities
This position will spend most of its time working within our operating system for the keying and submission of entries to USCBP for clearance. Additionally, communicating with clients via email and coordinating with other roles within the department to ensure the proper movement of shipments is vital to success in this role.
Skills
- This position requires expert level knowledge of import operations.
- Strong working knowledge of Outlook and experience in the logistics industry are absolutely required.
- Must be excellent verbal and written communicator.
- Preferred skills would be CCS, LCB, and experience with entry writing.
- An outstanding candidate would also have experience processing the entry of merchandise either in the capacity of a Customhouse Broker or other related experience as a U.S. Importer (compliance and transportation roles would be closely related).
