Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Highmark Credit Union in living out our Mission, “To educate and inspire our Highmark family so that all can achieve success.” This is done by providing outstanding service to both internal and external members.
A key component of this service is to identify the needs of each member you assist and suggest the credit union products and services that will improve their financial life. In addition, be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the department, including new business development, service delivery, compliance, product and service development and policies and procedures. Acts as an assistant to the Market Manager to help manage and schedule adequate staff and resources to process transaction requests and provide member services.
Essential Functions:
- Possesses adequate product knowledge.
- Consistently meet or exceed all sales and service expectations.
- Receive and process member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; issue money orders and cashiers’ checks; transfer funds to/from member accounts as directed.
- Maintain member cash records.
- Accurately balance cash drawer and process daily transactions.
- Assists in directing the activities of the department staff, including coaching and training.
- Performs cash ordering, balancing and filling of various cash machines (ATM, ECR, etc.) weekly.
- Ensures that quality service is provided to members in compliance with federal regulations and the Credit Unions’ policies and procedures.
- Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from internal and external members.
- Assists in guiding and managing the department in providing quality service to members, ensuring the department meets organizational, financial, operational, service and growth plans.
- Assists Market Manager in training and supervising department staff.
- Takes appropriate action to resolve any out-of-balance issues.
- Welcome members and guests; provide routine information concerning services; refer member to appropriate team member to assist them with their financial transactions or business needs.
- Continually seek opportunities to refer and cross-sells Credit Union products and services.
- Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks including typing, filing, computer input and answering the telephone.
- Process and/or assist with wire transfers, stop payments, address changes and other service requests.
- Abide by all HFCU policies and procedures; comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Attend all scheduled meetings; complete all training on time and as assigned.
- Assist in training new Universal Teller I employees.
- Maintain a neat, clean professional area.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience as a Universal Teller
- Knowledge of standard business practices
- Knowledge of Credit Union services and products including the legal and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must pass required background check
