Director of Operations

HighPoint Charitable Services is a volunteer driven organization working to bring wholeness to the community, share the gospel, and meet physical needs. We serve sacrificially and care compassionately for people, believing God calls us to help with resources to reduce the suffering of people caught in the cycle of hunger, poverty, and homelessness.

HighPoint’s Director of Operations will significantly contribute to our mission by promoting a welcoming and compassionate Christian environment while leading all operational activities. Areas of operational oversight include, but are not limited to, the food bank, clothes closet, donation intake, the HighPoint Community Kitchen, with logistical support for other programming. In addition, the Director of Operations will ensure HighPoint’s facility is safe, well-maintained, and organized for operational excellence with a cost-conscious perspective.

This role reports directly to the Executive Director and works as a team player with other staff members, volunteers, and the community at large to ensure we are operating at our best for the glory of God and for the benefit of all who GIVE, SERVE, and BELONG at HighPoint.

Essential Job Functions

Culture

Operations

 Provide overall leadership for key ministry areas - food bank, clothes closet, donation intake, kitchen while developing volunteer leadership in those respective areas.

  • Food Bank Operations include:

o Food procurement, safety, storage, and distribution.

o Inventory control.

o Managing the HighPoint relationship with Dare to Care and other food retailers.

  • Clothes Closet Operations include:

o Inventory control.

o Maintaining a clean, organized, well-stocked shop for HighPoint client families.

  • Donation Intake Operations include:

o Creating and maintaining donation intake procedures that prioritize a positive experience for donors and volunteers.

o Ensure appropriate stewardship of donated goods.

o Diligent inventory control and organization of goods storage.

o Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Development in marketing and communication efforts to donors through donation intake.

  • HighPoint Community Kitchen

o Supervise and support HighPoint’s Community Kitchen Manager

o Ensure equipment safety, cleanliness, maintenance and repair

o Collaborate with the Director of Client Care and Programs to ensure the kitchen meets programming objectives.

 Ensure HighPoint operations are adequately staffed with volunteers to achieve operational objectives, prioritizing processes that are effective and efficient.

 Elevate the role and value of volunteers, providing purposeful work that fulfills their calling and desire to serve their neighbors.

 Lead volunteer announcements and prayer time for multiple shifts per week

 Collaborate with staff and volunteers to develop and maintain process and procedures for every facet of operations, driving improvements where needed.

 Oversee special group volunteer opportunities as normal operations and special events require.

 Perform physical tasks as needed to participate in and ensure successful operations.

 Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of operational process and impact.

Facility Management

 Conduct routine inspections of HighPoint’s facility to identify occupational safety hazards and maintenance needs.

 Lead efforts to ensure HighPoint is a safe place for all people who visit HighPoint.

 Coordinate and oversee organization, upkeep, and storage within the HighPoint property and facility.

 Coordinate and oversee all maintenance and repairs of all equipment, the HighPoint Community Kitchen and the HighPoint facility overall.

 Control facility costs and collaborate with the Executive Director concerning facility budget needs.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to serve the mission of HighPoint.

Education and Experience

 A person with an active, strong faith who can embrace the ministerial component of this role.

 Excellent communication skills with a priority of responsiveness in all communication streams: phone, text, email, and in person.

 Ability to raise up leaders, delegate responsibilities, and motivate teams as they serve.

 A leader of people with work experience that includes team management, conflict management, problem solving, with a proven ability to balance tasks and relationships.

 Must have high emotional intelligence with the ability to work with, support, and serve many types of people.

 A person who thrives in a fast-paced environment, emanating positive, inspiring energy.

 A self-motivated, self-starter that is comfortable making decisions and working independently without continual direction.

 A person with high executive functioning skills able to plan, organize, and carry out tasks.

 Must be in good physical health with the ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs. and work in a fast-paced environment.

 Experience leading and working in a faith-based ministry, non-profit, or volunteer-driven organization a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
