Job Summary:
Responsible to develop and lead local sourcing department on all supplier related issues while complying with all corporate procedures and guidelines. Drives lowest overall total cost to meet Operations’ requirements. Effectively communicates with Suppliers, Marketing, Sales, Quality, Operations, Accounts Payable and Engineering to ensure excellent customer service to the organization; reports both positive and negative interactions to Sourcing Management. Will develop and manage a business continuity plan that identifies, quantifies and reduces risk. Has active and early involvement in new product development.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads team to obtain quotes and required information to support make versus buy decisions.
- Aligns local activities with Corporate Sourcing strategy for all related commodities and procedures.
- Develops, gathers and manages metrics to measure supplier performance.
- Sets standard cost data on an annual basis and explains PPV (Purchase Price Variance) on a monthly basis.
- Drive all cost reduction programs that involve material purchases or use.
- Works closely with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain and Planning concerning all supplier related issues.
- Communicates and assists in the resolution of all sourcing related issues: quality, stockouts, delivery issues, capacity constraints, specifications, etc.
- Supports NPI projects
- Develops contingency plans for assigned commodities and/or strategic suppliers
- Creates spend reports of direct and indirect materials

Expected Areas of Competence (i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities)
- Must have had at minimum 3 years’ experience sourcing management with a strong understanding of Purchasing tools and best practices.
- Project management and team building skills. Acts as a change agent
- Advanced knowledge in control procedures, such as the Supplier Change Notification process, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Engineering Specifications, Inspection Criteria and Work Instructions
- Demonstrates ownership of and ability to lead projects with a broad scope and high level of complexity and able to prioritize and complete work in a timely manner and within budget.
- Demonstrates advanced problem-solving skills through the use of quality and statistical tools.
- Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication exhibiting a high level technical expertise, tact and discretion, and keeps management appropriately informed
Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, accounting or other business discipline (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of sourcing, planning, engineering or manufacturing process development experience.
- Experience in Medical Device field preferred.
