Position: Youth Baseball Head Coach - Fall Saturday Leagues (Athletics Associate)
Hill House is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible individual for a Fall Baseball League coaching role in our athletics department. As the position will involve a lot of direct coaching, experience in coaching these age groups, or officiating any sport is a plus. The position posted is specifically focused on our larger in-house/recreational baseball leagues for players age 5 and up. Our leagues meet twice a week with a weeknight practice and a Saturday game for every age group. We start our 10 week season for every league during the first week of April. This position could evolve into a larger role with the organization each season as an Athletics Associate!
The Hill House Athletics Associate is a year-round position with a seasonally adjusted schedule of approximately 15-20 hours per week. An ideal candidate will need early afternoon and evening availability as well as on weekends in the morning through mid-afternoons. As mentioned, the role will be predominantly involved with coaching basketball, baseball, and soccer (in addition to other sports). The position may also involve officiating youth sports, and may offer the potential for taking on the site coordination of larger programs. Successful associates are typically strong communicators and remain enthusiastic at all times while being passionate about working with children in the community.
The Athletics Associate will report to Hill House’s athletics administrators while working closely with many coaches, staff, and volunteers throughout Hill House’s athletics programming. The main site is located at 127 Mount Vernon Street, Boston 02108 while athletics fields are in walking distance.
Training throughout each season can be provided.
Schedule
- This is a flexible position that hopes hire an enthusiastic beginner friendly athletics coach to lead new in-house baseball teams of boys or girls.
- Hired coaches who excel could continue to work seasonally with more coaching and officiating opportunities during every fall, winter, and spring season at Hill House for various sports.

- Red Sox Rookie League Soccer - ages 4-5: Tuesdays 4:15-5:00pm
- T-Ball League - ages 5-6: Tuesday Team Practices 5:15-6:00 - Saturday Games 9:00-9:45am
- AA Baseball League- ages 6-8: Thursday Team Practices 5:00-6:00pm - Saturday Games 10:00-11:00am
- AAA Baseball League - ages 8-11: Thursday Team Practices 6:00-7:00pm - Saturday Games 11:30am-1:30pm
- Majors Baseball League - ages 11-14: Wednesday Team Practices 5:00-7:00pm - Saturday Games 9:00-11:00am
- We expect to hire multiple coaches and that every coach will lead at least two teams at different age levels for at least one weeknight and Saturday a week.

- Pay starts at $20.00 an hour
- Instructors are paid for class gaps of up to an hour
- An ideal candidate could help lead all programs during this fall and would continue with us for future seasons in the fall, winter, spring, etc.
Season Dates
This is a Spring focused position that will start in April and run for 10 weeks. This role could evolve into a year-round position that adjusts its schedule based on the different program seasons. Winter runs between November-March, spring would run March-June, summer between June-September and fall during September-November. This role would maintain 15-20 hours per week through each season with some scheduled vacation weeks based on school calendars and in between seasons starting.
Program Location
Our programming is predominantly run on the Boston Common, Esplanade Teddy Ebersol's Red Sox Fields and occasionally indoors at multiple facilities throughout the city. Most programs will be set the Beacon Hill area where we are based.
Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience coaching a must.
- Strong desire and proven ability to work with children in the specified age groups.
- Ability to lead activities and supervise groups of players on your own.
- Ability to relate to players and other staff as part of a team.
- Strong character including but not limited to a sense of humor, enthusiasm, maturity and patience.
- Reliability, punctuality, adaptability, and availability throughout each season.
- Possess unique skills or talents that will bring originality and excitement to the program.
