Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Body Shop Estimator / Production Manager to join our team. This dual-role position requires a highly organized and customer-focused individual who will be responsible for accurately assessing the cost of vehicle repairs and overseeing the daily operations of the shop to ensure efficient and high-quality repairs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of collision repair processes, as well as excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Duties
- Estimate Vehicle Repairs: Accurately assess the damage to vehicles and create detailed, cost-effective repair estimates using estimating software and knowledge of current industry pricing standards.
Production Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee Shop Operations: Manage the workflow of repair jobs in the shop, ensuring that repairs are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor technicians, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary tools and information to complete their tasks efficiently.
- Quality Control: Perform quality checks on completed work to ensure that all repairs meet safety standards and the company’s quality expectations.
- Production Scheduling: Prioritize and assign repair jobs, balancing customer needs with shop capacity to optimize production efficiency.
- Inventory Management: Oversee parts inventory, ensuring the availability of necessary materials and parts, and that the stock is appropriately managed.
- Customer Satisfaction: Monitor customer satisfaction, address concerns, and ensure timely delivery of repaired vehicles.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the collision repair industry, with a focus on estimating and/or production management.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of auto body repair processes, parts, materials, and industry best practices.
- Estimating Software: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Mitchell, Audatex, CCC ONE, or similar).
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with customers, insurance adjusters, and the repair team.
- Leadership: Proven experience managing teams, coordinating workflow, and maintaining a positive work environment.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to repair estimates, production, and quality.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: I-CAR certification or similar industry-specific certifications are a plus.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with OEM repair standards, vehicle diagnostics, and advanced repair techniques.
- Bilingual: Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus (especially Spanish).
Work Environment:
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move about the shop for extended periods. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Working Hours: Standard full-time hours, with occasional overtime depending on workload and deadlines.
- Tools & Equipment: Access to company tools, estimating software, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
