Taylor Hopkinson is in search of an Estimator Manager to join a global team with a leading renewable energy company, driving the clean energy transition with investments in wind, solar, and battery storage across nearly 30 countries. Candidate must be in Austin, Texas, or Chicago, Illinois and must be open for a hybrid schedule 3 days a week in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate cost estimates, project schedules, and scope assessments for solar PV, energy storage, and other energy generation projects in the US utility markets.
- Determine the overall budget for turn-key EPC projects during the design phase and establish a fixed lump sum price during bidding or contract negotiations.
- Manage the RFP process with contractors and material suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key contractors and material suppliers within the industry.
- Conduct supplier meetings and manage ongoing relationships.
- Create and update a comprehensive database of benchmark pricing to reflect current and future market conditions.
- Support various departments by reviewing bid documents, RFPs, project information, and site characteristics during the proposal stage.
- Coordinate the estimating process from concept to project awards.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of a cost-estimating platform.
- Develop accurate pricing methodologies for commodities to establish EPC budget pricing.
- Stay updated on the best material suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Cultivate strong relationships with EPCs, material suppliers, and partners.
- Assist in internal value engineering efforts by providing accurate pricing for alternative methods.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Engineering, Business, Construction, or a related field.
- 7 years of direct experience in costing/estimating.
- 3 years in PV or renewable energy related
- Previous experience in a similar role with an IPP, in the renewables sector.
- Certification from organizations such as the American Society of Professional Estimators or the Professional Construction Estimators of America would be beneficial.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the development, construction, and plant operations processes and their sequencing.
