Job Summary
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at UT Tyler is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Medical Oncologist to lead our Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancer Program as a Disease Team Leader. This academic role is ideal for an individual with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, innovative research, and leadership within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing our GI cancer research portfolio, mentoring junior faculty, and driving clinical excellence within the GI cancer program. Key Responsibilities :
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with GI cancers within both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Design and implement innovative treatment protocols and clinical guidelines to advance gastrointestinal cancer care in the institution.
- Engage in regular tumor boards, case discussions, and multidisciplinary planning sessions to ensure best practices in gastrointestinal cancer treatment.
- Develop and lead a clinical research program within GI oncology, with a focus on innovative clinical trials, translational research, and / or health outcomes research.
- Identify, design, and lead clinical trials as principal investigator, with a focus on expanding institutional clinical trial offerings for GI cancer.
- Disseminate research findings through high-impact publications, conference presentations, and community education.
- Serve as a key representative for the GI Cancer Program in institutional and regional cancer care initiatives.
