Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech:
Responsibilities
- Combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedure, and implementation of tools and technology to facilitate a physician/CNM performance in labor and delivery.
- Set up surgical instruments and equipment and maintain sterility.
- Assist with preparing patients for the operating room or delivery.
- Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and assist with holding retractors and other instruments.
- Maintain inventory in all delivery and operating rooms.
- Assist with clerical duties including entering patient orders, maintaining the delivery log, and daily patient census.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Certified Surgical Technology program
- Must be certified through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Active BLS certification
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 1-year of Labor and Delivery Surgical Technologist experience
