As a Press Brake Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake machines to bend, shape, and form sheet metal components and parts according to precise specifications. Your expertise in using the press brake will be critical in ensuring the production of high-quality metal products used in various industries.
Responsibilities:
1. Machine Setup: Prepare the press brake machine by selecting the appropriate tooling and dies, as well as loading and securing the metal sheets to be bent.
2. Programming: Input and adjust the required bending angles, lengths, and dimensions into the press brake control panel, using blueprints, work orders, or engineering drawings.
3. Operation: Safely operate the press brake machine to bend metal sheets according to the specified dimensions and tolerances, monitoring the process for accuracy and quality.
4. Quality Control: Inspect the finished components to ensure they meet the required specifications and visual quality standards. Make necessary adjustments to the machine settings if deviations are detected.
5. Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks on the press brake machine to ensure its proper functioning and prolong its operational life. Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team for timely repairs.
6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating the press brake, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the safe handling of materials.
7. Material Handling: Assist in material handling and preparation tasks, such as loading and unloading metal sheets and finished products using appropriate equipment.
8. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate production records, including the number of parts produced, machine settings, and any issues encountered during the process.
9. Communication: Collaborate with supervisors, team members, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production processes.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience as a Press Brake Operator or a similar role in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Knowledge of press brake machine setup, programming, and operation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain precision in bending metal sheets.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and adjust machine settings.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and guidelines in an industrial setting.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and handle heavy materials.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
