Commercial Banking Officer

SCHEDULE: Full-time; Monday through Friday (8:00 am -5:00 pm) plus some evenings and weekends.

SCOPE:

The Commercial Banking Officer reports directly to the Senior Vice-President-Commercial Banking or their designee. The Commercial Banking Officer is responsible for servicing a recommended combined loan and deposit portfolio of up to 10 million for established markets and 5 million for emerging markets. This position is responsible for selling commercial loans and deposits products/services to commercial clients, their managers and their employees. (Specific areas of focus are outlined in the employee's accountability grid)

Individual will have a basic knowledge of commercial products and services in order to perform tasks independent with little direction from the Supervisor and to be able to assist other bank employees in the delivery of Commercial Services. Perform new account opening and related responsibilities associated with commercial loans and deposits by performing the following duties.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

New Business Development:

• Participate in Bank's business development activities through individual and joint sales calls. Seek new business by presenting, selling, and cross-selling needed bank products and following up properly to ensure quality service. Develop new business through phone solicitation, referrals and direct mail.
• Maintain favorable customer relations and cross-sell Bank services through needs identification thus ensuring the most positive and profitable relationship exists between the Bank and its customers. Ensure prompt and courteous response to customer inquiries.
• Provide referrals to various departments; Commercial Deposits, Mortgage Lending, Retail, Trust and Insurance.
• Participate in Bank sponsored events, networking with guests to develop a personal knowledge of who they are.
• Provide leadership for at least one Bank sponsored event each year.

Commercial Loan Portfolio Management:

• Originate loans within bank policy to attain growth goals.
• Interview applicants and request specified information for loan application; request appraisals, applicant credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other information pertinent to evaluation of loan application; analyze applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan; and correspond with or interview applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
• Meet and maintain portfolio profitability goals. Compile loan package and facilitate negotiation with applicant according to established standards, such as fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms; refer loan to loan committee for approval; ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy; assure timely loan closing and funding activities.
• Meet and maintain portfolio credit quality goals.
• Individual lending authority as determined by the loan policy.

Commercial Deposit Portfolio Management:

• Generate new commercial deposit accounts to attain growth goals.
• Maintain favorable customer relations and cross-sell Bank services through needs identification thus ensuring the most positive and profitable relationship exists between the Bank and its customers.
• Provide assistance to co-workers with difficult internal problems or customer inquiries or problems. Ensure prompt and courteous response to customer inquiries.
• Assist customers with inquiries and information requests, including all commercial deposits products and services and resolves complaints relating to loan products and services.
• Promote commercial, fee based, services to customers and prospects

Community Involvement:

• Participate in at least 1 community organization through membership and regular attendance, networking with group members to develop a personal knowledge of who they are.

Other Duties:

• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in the field of business, including specific courses in accounting, finance, and economics; or two to three years banking experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must have working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, and database software programs.
