Description

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.
- Provide care to surgical patients and patients here for therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
- Assist patient with changing into surgical attire .and any pre-op preps.
- Take and record vital signs as applicable in an accurate and concise method.
- Notifies the nurse of changes in patient’s condition in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Assist patients with nourishment, activity, elimination, and cleanliness in a manner conducive to the patient’s comfort and safety.
- Keep written notes of specific assignments and record pertinent information about the patients.
- Promptly answers call lights.
- Transports patients as needed though the facility (EXAMPLE: escort patient/family to Ambulatory room, assist with transporting patient to and from surgery)
- Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital, or physician related information
- Assists with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of equipment, work, and storage areas.
- Keeps patient rooms neat and clean.
- Maintain orderly condition of assigned work area.
- Is knowledgeable of general hospital policies and procedures.
- Assist with clerical needs of department.
- Other duties many be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice.
- Completes assigned daily duties.
- Accepts reassignment to other units if necessary.
- Follows expected work practices.
- Displays thoroughness and accuracy of work.
- Works in a safe manner, including reporting unsafe equipment or environment.
- Well organized, accepts assignments willingly and accomplishes them quickly.
- Anticipates problems and suggests solutions.
- Helps with not specifically assigned duties.
- Works steadily and always keeps busy.
- Maintain knowledge and skills necessary to communicate and interact with patients, visitors, and staff in the following age groups: Infant, Pediatric/adolescent, Adult, & Geriatric

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Possession of a genuine interest and concern for geriatric and disabled persons

Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
- Graduation from high school or GED is required.
- Must have the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- CNA experience is helpful.
- Successful completion of a vocational program for nursing assistants including the State of Illinois Competency Exam or completion of required portion of a RN program
- CPR certification
- In compliance with Criminal Background Check requirements
- Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking
- Required to climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
- Required to use arms, hands, and fingers for repetitive grasping, pulling, and pushing and feeling.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Works in well light, climate-controlled setting
- May be exposed to communicable diseases, unpleasant sights, odors, and materials.
- The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
