POSITION SUMMARY
Pay range: $23.09/hr - $32.09/hr
Inventory Specialist for Perioperative Services provides inventory support. Assists in maintaining perioperative supply and equipment inventory, ensuring supplies, equipment and implants are available for surgical procedures as appropriate to meet patient/physician needs and maximize cost containment opportunities. Ability to critically think, attention to detail, problem solve and complete additional duties as requested.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performed majority of the time:
· Maintains inventory Counting/Ordering duties for Perioperative Services (Main OR, TOPS, Endo & SPD).
· Conducts weekly counts of department inventories; submits order requisition(s).
· Conduct random inventory checks for expired products.
· Ensures availability of routine and specialty supplies/equipment for surgical procedures.
· Receive, de-box and put away stock in perioperative services as needed.
· Add new items to department inventories; determine shelf location, create label, add item to Envi dept par carts, update Envi system as needed.
· Attends and participates in staff meetings, inservices and continuing education opportunities.
· Acts as a staff resource for supply/equipment questions, handling, troubleshooting.
· Human Tissue log/Consignment Inventory: maintain human tissue log; maintain consignment inventory accuracy.
Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:
· Transfer inventory between Periop departments when needed, including system documentation.
· Conducts Year End Inventory Counts.
· Submits order requisitions(s) for inventory items needed due to unexpected volume.
· Communicates backorder information and coordinates substitution availability.
· Delete old items from dept inventories: remove old items from shelf, remove from Envi carts, update Envi System.
· Inventory analysis: conducts inventory usage analysis to recommend par levels; maintain expire inventory log, review open PO report and expedite outstanding late PO’s.
· Identifies and pursues opportunities for streamlining/standardizing supplies and equipment, assuring quality while maximizing cost containment opportunities.
· Works directly with purchasing and finance personnel to ensure correct charging information.
· Encourages and maintains open, two-way communication with staff.
· Performs other duties as requested.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
· High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
Required
· Minimum one (1) year of inventory management experience.
Preferred
· At least two (2) years current relevant surgery or healthcare materials/purchasing experience.
· Computer inventory/network experience.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
Required
· American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required within 90 days of hire.
