Work Schedule and Shift Premiums for the Dietary Aide

• The dietary aide's hours could vary depending on the job they are doing that day.
  • 6am to 2:30pm, 6am to 6:30pm, or 2:45pm to 6:45pm
• Will be scheduled for every other weekend
• Weekend premium is an additional $2.00/hour

Qualifications for the Dietary Aide

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
• Not required, but commercial kitchen experience is desirable - sanitation plus food safety and infection control in food storage

Responsibilities of the Dietary Aide

• Collects, reviews, modifies and organizes patient menus
• Assures the patients' food preferences are served, making sure the patients proper diet restrictions are adhered to
• Coordinates tray line for breakfast, lunch and supper
• Assists with food preparation and passing of late trays
• Answers department phone
• Utilizes safe food handling practices including taking food temperatures, using gloves when handling food, and storing food properly
• Uses knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing techniques for proper cleaning of work surfaces, equipment and cutting boards; operates dish washing machine
• Is flexible and available when emergency staffing situations arise
