The Tax Accountant will be an important contributor within the tax reporting and compliance team by supporting the manager with all tax provision and corporate income tax compliance. Responsibilities include preparation of federal, state, and local corporate and partnership income tax filings, calculation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions, and maintenance of processes and procedures documentation. This individual will contribute support across various aspects of the corporate tax department.
Essential Functions
- Participate in the quarterly and year-end tax provision preparation utilizing OneSource software.
- Assist in gathering of information required from business units for tax calculations.
- Preparation of work papers and schedules to support permanent and temporary tax differences for income tax filings.
- Preparation of income tax returns, extensions, and estimated payments for federal, state, and local jurisdictions in OneSource Income Tax.
- Provide tax support for the SEC quarterly and annual filings.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for any income tax audits.
- Assist with notices from tax authorities including preparation of documentation and timely responses.
- Maintain knowledge of current tax laws and regulations.
- Performs tax research utilizing BNA and RIA Checkpoint.
- Evaluate tax consequences or various strategies.
- Preparation of journal entries to record tax transactions.
- Preparation and analysis of multi-state apportionment work papers.
- Work with others in the organization and outside accounting firms for tax savings ideas and initiatives to benefit the company.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification preferred.
- 2 years minimum of corporate or public accounting income tax experience.
- General tax research skills needed.
- Self-motivated, demonstrates accountability and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource income tax preparation and Income Tax Provision (or similar software) preferred.
