A Typical Day
The Dryer Operator is responsible for operating all plant equipment related to dryers, processing finished products, scaling and loading all bulk/tank trucks efficiently to reduce downtime, meet production goals, and meet customer expectations.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and control production processes in area of responsibility.
- Complete periodic QC checks- ability to sample product by physically taking samples, test samples using appropriate lab test equipment, and interpret sample results.
- Maintaining accurate and complete paperwork.
- Troubleshooting and maintenance of process equipment and instrumentation.
- Ability to perform operator based preventative maintenance duties.
- Procedures, policies and practices adherence and development.
- Use a variety of common hand tools as well as operate a pallet jack.
- Accurately explain process flow for one processing area.
- Assist in assuring efficient operation of equipment, quality of product, and safety of all personnel.
- Communicate, interact, and work effectively with all team members to help achieve production goals.
- Help coach and train teammates and participate in on the job, buddy training
- Ability to take-action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; use reason, even when dealing with emotional topics (decision making & problem solving).
- Ability to relate and conform to established policies and procedures.
- Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off
- Perform master sanitation program duties as assigned.
- Participate in departmental safety teams.
- Completion of operational training (written & verbal) for area of responsibility
- Complete the following annual training: OSHA required safety, hearing test, GMP, Training Skills Assessment, LO/TO Training/Fall Protection, Confined Space, Industrial lift licenses and complete Arc Flash training and pass
What You Will Need
- English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
- Must be able to work 12-hour variable shift, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
- Communication, time management, organizational, and basic math skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to lift 60lbs
What Will Put You Ahead
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Experience/Proficiency/Skilled in Permeate Operator (Level 1)
- 1 plus years of manufacturing experience
- Prior feed mill/grain experience
- Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical processes
- Active/Past member of Departmental Safety Team
- SAP and Wonderware experience
