A Typical Day
The Quality Systems Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness of Hilmar's Quality Management System (QMS), which adheres to the SQF (Safe Quality Foods) code.
Job Responsibilities
- Executes internal system audits against defined standards and company policy, ensuring timely corrective actions without delay.
- Facilitates third-party and customer audits, excluding regulatory ones, and ensures the timely execution and completion of subsequent corrective actions.
- In the event of an absence, the Food Safety Supervisor or designee will perform food safety duties.
- Manages site-level document control against defined standards and company policy.
- writes and modifies site-level documents, including format, grammar, and typographical corrections.
- Eases the release, review, and revision of documents, gathering necessary approvals prior to use.
- Follows and enforces compliance with HCC's standard operating procedures.
- Facilitates, organizes, and executes traceability exercises.
- Participates in mock recalls as needed.
- Brings together staff from different disciplines to develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality processes and procedures.
- Executes the implementation and communication of HCC food safety and quality policies and goals throughout the site.
- Performs technical writing and administrative tasks as needed.
- Provides technical interpretation, guidance, and expertise for SQF (Safe Quality Foods) Code.
- Executes site procedure and policy change training as needed.
- Takes on project assignments and other duties as required.
- Actively participates in the training and development program and associated activities.
- Coches and trains teammates, participating in on-the-job buddy training.
- Gives priority to food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC's food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Holds self and others accountable to HCC's food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by reporting any incidents or observations.
- Participates in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.
- Prioritizes safety above all other job duties, adopting a safety-first approach at all times.
- Reports any safety issues or observations and follows up.
- Participates in departmental safety teams.
- Completes annual OSHA-required safety training and annual Food Safety overview training.
What You Will Need
- Must have proficient English skills to understand, read, write, and speak English.
- Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of related experience or equivalent experience.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of SQF (Safe Quality Foods) Code-approved GFSI Standards.
- Knowledge of production operations, laboratory, quality, and food safety.
- Advanced industry-related courses: HACCP, Internal Auditor.
- PCQI and SQF Practitioner Certified.
