Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain complete knowledge of any and comply with all Newport Group Inc. franchise and hotel/department policies and procedures.
- Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests.
- Issue room key(s) and present hotel specific information to guests.
- Effectively communicate with all departments
- Transmit and receive telephone messages.
- Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services; registration of guests; and shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
- Keep records of room availability and guests' accounts.
- Compute bills, collect payments, and makes change for guests, verify that the correct charges and credits are posted to the corresponding guest folio.
- Make and confirm reservations.
- Must be able to accurately record guest information in property management system.
- Post charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone, to ledger.
- Ensure that all case and cash equivalents are accounted for and balance at the beginning and end of each work shift.
- Provide administrative, reception, and program support to management and staff.
- Resolve and diffuse guest complaints within scope of authority: otherwise refer matter to management.
- Keep front desk area neat and tidy at all times.
- Review shift events and special notes with the following shift.
- Record messages regarding guest issues or special notes in the Front Desk Log books.
- Special projects may be assigned by management.
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to operate the locations Property Management System, Property Point of Sales System (where applicable), Microsoft Office, and internet. Candidate is on the computer the entire shift.

Scheduling & Transportation Requirements:
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- There is no minimum guarantee on the number of hours a Guest Service Agent will work per day or per week. Guest Service Agents are scheduled based on demand, season, and special events. Hours can significantly fluctuate from season to season.
- Employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from work.
