Job Purpose:
Responsible for soliciting new accounts, entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing accounts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Solicits, negotiates and books new and repeat business through efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, etc...) while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals.
- Executes a territorial marketing strategy to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.
- Plan, up-sell and detail the meeting/function with the client including: space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations, etc... Completes the contracts, prepare the appropriate paperwork, coordinate with the appropriate areas in the hotel, resolve customer issues, complaints and problems to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of corporate/hotel procedures and products and the competition's product, strengths and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and the achievement of goals.
- Demonstrates positive leadership characteristics that inspire team members to meet and exceed standards, and promote team member empowerment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills:
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
- Basic mathematical skills and considerable skill in the use of a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work large complex programs with great attention to detail while continually presenting a positive attitude, great customer skills and a passion to succeed.
- Ability to listen effectively and to speak English clearly.
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
- Ability to prepare complex reports.
- Strong knowledge of the designated markets.
- Must have knowledge of Catering etiquette, guest relations and service standards.
- Ability to organize detailed information.
- Strong leadership skills.
Qualifications Standards
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years experience preferred.
