Chief Engineers are responsible for all technical operations and mechanical systems within an organization, including managing the engineering team and overseeing projects and operations
The duties and responsibilities of a Chief Engineer include:
- Overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of engineering projects within the organization
- Leading and managing the engineering team, providing technical guidance and training
- Developing and implementing engineering strategies, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Assessing and evaluating technical operations and systems, proposing recommendations and solutions for improvement
- Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations and standards
- Managing and maintaining facilities, equipment, and infrastructure, including scheduling repairs and routine maintenance
- Working closely with other department leaders to coordinate project goals and objectives
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest engineering trends, techniques, and methods, implementing them into operations where necessary
- Preparing and managing budgets and resources for engineering projects
- Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback to engineering team members
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- HVAC Certification & CPO certification
- Has thorough knowledge and understanding of general repairs and maintenance.
- Proven track record working with information technology systems.
- Experience with fire and life safety systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration.
- Experience maintaining pool water quality and applicable maintenance.
- Ability to communicate in English with guests, visitors, vendors, and hotel staff.
- Ability to provide legible communication.
- Ability to compute mathematical calculations.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal. Will be interfacing with guests to provide efficient and effective results as related repairs and maintenance.
- Maintains a close working relationship with employees and department heads from all areas of hotel operations.
- The position is on call 24 hours a day. One must be flexible to work long hours to ensure the smooth operation of the engineering department.
- This position requires the ability to handle pressure situations and make sound judgment calls when evaluating problems and situations to expedite the resolution. Additionally, it is necessary to take a proactive role and manage by example.
