Job Summary:
Himes Machine, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC/LATHE Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating CNC lathes, maintaining production efficiency, and ensuring the highest quality of machined components. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints and work with precision measuring tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC lathes and other machining equipment to produce high-quality parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and materials for machining operations.
- Adjust machine settings, speeds, and feeds to optimize performance and maintain quality.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines as needed.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and quality control teams to improve machining processes.
- Follow company policies, safety regulations, and ISO standards.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a CNC/LATHE Operator or in a similar machining role.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming and G-code (preferred but not required).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Knowledge of metal properties and machining best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical certification or trade school training in CNC machining.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
