Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting in the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all school district employees. The position ensures compliance with payroll regulations, maintains detailed payroll records, and provides excellent customer service to staff regarding payroll-related inquiries.

Terms of Employment
- Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for all school district employees, including salaried, hourly, and substitute staff.
- Enter and verify payroll data, such as hours worked, salary adjustments, benefits, and deductions.
- Process timecards, overtime, and other payroll-related transactions.
- Update monthly accrual records and process absence data to payroll system
- Compliance & Record-Keeping
- Ensure payroll calculations comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as school district policies.
- Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, including pay stubs, tax forms, and direct deposit information.
- Assist in preparing payroll reports and filings, such as tax withholdings, retirement contributions, and wage garnishments.
- Update and maintain accrual records, resolving discrepancies
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
- Assist employees with payroll forms, direct deposit setup, and timesheet submissions.
- Work closely with HR and finance departments to ensure accuracy in employee compensation and benefits.
- Enter and update employee payroll information in the payroll system.
- Assist with payroll audits and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Generate and distribute payroll reports as needed.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment with the ability to prioritize and problem solve
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required; Associate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred
- 1-3 years of payroll experience, preferably in school district/public sector
- Basic knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and payroll processing procedures
- Experience with payroll software, experience with Munis, highly desirable
- Familiarity with public school funding and budget constraints
- Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
- Occasional overtime during peak payroll periods or audits
- This is a twelve (12) month position
