About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our small, dynamic legal team. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and strategic legal professional who excels in a fast-paced startup environment. As Associate General Counsel, you will assist our General Counsel on all aspects of the legal function, collaborating with our go-to-market (GTM), product, engineering, and finance teams.
Responsibilities :
Collaborate closely with the GTM, Product, Customer Success, and Finance teams to provide legal support throughout the customer engagement process.
Negotiate and draft customer contracts, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with applicable laws.
Offer guidance on a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
Assist in the development of legal strategies to support company goals.
Based on interest and expertise, take ownership of other aspects of the legal function, such as employment matters, intellectual property portfolio development, corporate compliance, legal operations, etc.
Support the growth and development of the legal function within the organization.
Qualifications
Must-Have :
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in California.
6-10 years of relevant legal experience
Experience in commercial counsel roles, which includes negotiating IP and data privacy agreements
Proven ability to operate as a generalist within a small legal team.
Strong negotiation skills and experience working collaboratively with sales and GTM teams.
Nice-to-Have :
Technical background, such as an engineering degree or related field.
Previous experience in a startup environment, with the ability to move quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
Previous experience in a healthcare technology company or SAAS environment
