Lumber Stacker
Hamden, Ohio
As a Lumber Stacker, you will play a vital role in the lumberyard or sawmill operation, where you'll be responsible for organizing and stacking lumber products efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect incoming lumber shipments, checking for quality and accuracy.
- Sort and stack lumber according to size, grade, and type, ensuring proper organization and storage.
- Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment to move lumber within the yard.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping and disposing of wood scraps and debris.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking lumber quantities and notifying supervisors when supplies need replenishing.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth workflow and efficient lumber stacking process.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Report any damaged or unsafe lumber products to supervisors.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in lumber stacking or a related role is a plus but not required.
- Forklift operation certification or experience is advantageous.
- Physical stamina to lift and stack heavy lumber products throughout the day.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
