Job Description
Position: Technical Delivery Manager Mobile Apps
Location: Atlanta
Overview:
We are looking for a Technical Delivery Manager with a strong background in mobile app development (React Native preferred) and a working understanding of web (Next.js) and backend/API (NestJS) platforms. This role will be responsible for leading the delivery of mobile features and projects by coordinating with an offshore development team, ensuring high-quality implementation, and meeting business goals.
Responsibilities:
Act as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and the offshore development team.
Understand technical and business requirements and translate them into clear action plans for the team.
Manage sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery timelines.
Oversee implementation of mobile app features while ensuring alignment with backend and web teams.
Monitor development progress and proactively resolve blockers.
Perform regular code reviews or coordinate technical reviews with leads.
Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, including testing, security, and performance.
Collaborate with QA to ensure bug-free, production-ready releases.
Provide regular status updates to leadership and flag risks early.
Requirements:
5 years of experience in software delivery roles, with at least 2 years managing mobile app delivery.
Strong understanding of React Native.
Familiarity with Next.js (web) and NestJS (backend/API).
Proven experience working with offshore or distributed teams.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong technical acumen and the ability to dive into code-level discussions when needed.
Experience with agile methodologies, Jira/ClickUp or similar tools.
Nice to Have:
Previous hands-on coding experience (React Native, Node.js, or similar).
Exposure to CI/CD, mobile app store deployment pipelines.
Experience in startup or fast-paced environments.
Notes from Meeting:
This person will manage 14 applications, with 2 apps per brand. They will work closely with an offshore team of about 25-30 developers in India, and will be responsible for coordinating across 5 teams, including 1 API team and multiple web teams.
Key responsibilities and qualifications:
- React Native development experience is essential, as they will need to read and understand code, answer questions about the codebase, and manage the delivery of apps. They should be able to recognize when to involve a principal for complex issues.
- They will not write code themselves but will support the lead app engineer and junior app engineer in organizational tasks and documentation.
- The person will need to be available for the offshore team in the first half of the day and the US team in the second half.
- The role requires strong soft skills, including the ability to react quickly to issues and communicate effectively under pressure, especially in high-stress production environments.
- They will be heavily involved in testing mobile apps (e.g., push notifications), collaborating with the QA and test teams, though not conducting testing themselves.
- The candidate should have experience with iOS and Android mobile apps and be familiar with handling high-pressure situations and working with multiple teams.
