Job Details
Title: IT System Administrator
Duration: 6 Weeks (Protentional extension possible)
Location: Bay City, Texas 77414. The working position is On Site.
Education: Graduation from an Accredited High School or has a GED, prefer an associate or bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university.
Ideal candidates will have familiarity with Active Directory and hardening standards such as DoD STIGS, NIST 800-53, and NIST 800-171 recommendations.
The candidate performs systems administration work under moderate supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, in support of approximately 250 users and 250 endpoints and servers. County infrastructure, services, and applications are largely onsite or on-premises solutions.
Knowledge of systems administration; computer hardware and software configuration and troubleshooting; operating systems and applications; computer programming and architecture of scripting languages; and basic internet security administration.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues; analyze systems and procedures; use network management, administration, and other system administration tools; and communicate effectively. Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Capability of providing support to typical county systems for a mix of desktops and laptops for the following functions, including but not limited to jail management systems, booking, court records systems, computer aided dispatch, payroll, appraisal district systems, tax and records, financial systems, remote access systems, and other relevant local government systems.
This position will work under the direction of the Matagorda County Information Services director and should be able to maintain close working relationships with county employees and customers.
Additionally, the System Administrator should be familiar with the following functions:
Performs troubleshooting support of systems hardware, software, and networking issues.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities to implement, maintain, and refine Active Directory and Group Policies.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities to implement secure remote access and management solutions for county staff and vendors.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities to implement effective logging and log management solutions.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities to implement effective develop an access control list and implement network access control.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities to install, configure, and maintain Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or other similar solutions to set up, configure, and manage a workstation imaging system/solution.
Installs, configures, maintains, and administers servers, operating systems, and applications.
Supports operational, technical, and system requirements for the location, installation, operation, and maintenance of servers.
Performs related work as assigned.
