Manufacturing Operations Assistant

Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Pay Rate: $18.45 per hour

Location: Sanford, ME

Contract: 6 months from start date

A consumer packaged goods (CPG) company in Sanford, ME is immediately hiring an entry level Operations Associate!

POSITION DETAILS:

• Support the manufacture of natural oral and personal care products while delivering excellence in safety, quality, and productivity
• Work on the factory floor and ensure the area is clean
• Provide support to Technicians to monitor the efficiency of the production line ○ Ensuring Constant Supply of Packaging Materials ○ Handling Finished Goods in accordance with cGMP regulations
• Assist with floss packaging
• Assemble and prepare goods for shipment.
• Maintain proper storage for material and product inventory in warehouses.
• Organize inventory.
• Participate in various maintenance/housekeeping projects, including inspecting and cleaning of Making Areas by maintaining clean surfaces on tanks and piping
• Removal and proper disposal of Making Area waste in accordance with SOPs
• Completing cleaning check sheet

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

• 1-2 years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Basic computer skills, Google-suite tools
• Problem assessment, problem solving and basic math skills.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Meet shift requirements with excellent attendance.
• Self-directed with a strong results-oriented attitude.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Vocational or Technical degree preferred

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Safety - Ensure all EOHS requirements (Environmental Occupational Health and Safety) are met while handling materials and operating equipment.
• Quality - Ensure all quality systems (Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures) are followed during all manufacturing and all cleaning and sanitization (C&S) processes.
• Productivity – Ensure completion of tasks within specified shifts.

• Attention to detail with the ability to follow all procedures, and neatly document tasks with precision.
• Team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with others to achieve shared goals.
• Communication skills with ability to understand and assess team production performance via visual, written, and verbal communications.

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES:

• Mechanical skills to set up, operate, and clean equipment with a focus on safety.
• Computer skills to operate controls (such as Programmable Logic Controller, scale interface, handheld scanner, SAP computer transactions, computer email) with skill as trained.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, crawl, and work in confined spaces, and work in hazardous condition spaces for up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions with temperature ranges from cold to hot and humid
• Ability to use hazardous materials
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. on continual basis with or without accommodation
• Complete tasks that require working with hands overhead
• Walk unlimited distances each day.
• Frequently walk up and down multiple levels of steps, multiple times a day, up to 8.5 levels - carrying tool bag, materials, or other supplies that weigh 25 lbs on average
• Frequently bend at waist 90 degrees and flex at knees 120 degrees
• Wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing, eye, foot, and dust protection.
• Frequently perform tasks in an environment that contains significant levels of dust
• Perceive visual and audible alarms and telephones while wearing hearing protection
• Receive and transmit information in person and by telephone communication

DRESS CODE:

• Long sleeves t-shirt (no buttons), long pants, safety-toed shoes
• No jewelry
• Makeup CAN be work however false eyelashes, acrylic fingernails or nail polish may not be worn in the factory area
