Our client, a community-based acute care hospital that operates under the umbrella of a national, Joint Commission-accredited healthcare system with hospitals across the U.S., is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead HR strategy and people operations at their Newport, TN facility. - 80-bed regional facility (50-bed nursing home 30-bed hospital)

- Reports directly to the CEO; active member of the hospital’s executive leadership team

- Located in Newport, TN, just 50 miles east of Knoxville and 15 miles from the North Carolina border, the hospital offers easy access to the Smoky Mountains, a low cost of living, and weekend getaways to the Carolina coast within a driving distance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team on all HR-related matters
- Lead initiatives in employee engagement, talent acquisition, retention, and overall workforce satisfaction
- Oversee facility-level hiring for both management and staff positions (excluding clinical/physician roles)
- Use employee feedback and HR metrics to monitor satisfaction trends and implement tailored engagement strategies
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and adherence to corporate HR policies
- Manage and mentor the HR team, including an HR Generalist and support personnel
- Align local HR efforts with the broader strategy and goals of the parent healthcare system
- Maintain a hands-on, visible presence throughout the hospital, acting as a trusted HR resource across departments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree or HR certification preferred)
- 3 years of HR leadership experience, ideally as an HR Director or Senior HR Manager
- Proven ability to manage HR teams and lead initiatives at a strategic level
- Strong generalist background with direct experience in employee relations, recruiting, retention, and compliance
- Deep understanding of employment laws and best practices in HR
- Must be available to work on-site full-time in Newport, TN
- Stable work history with a track record of building trust and influence at all levels
- Healthcare or hospital HR experience is a plus, but not required
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $75,000 – $87,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Bonus Opportunity: Up to 10% annually
- Relocation Support: Up to $10,000 reimbursement with receipts
