Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of clinical and patient care duties, including the removal of calcareous deposits, applying topical agents, and providing patient education. You will also play a crucial role in assisting with diagnostic procedures and maintaining a high standard of care.
Job Description
- Remove calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth using appropriate instruments and techniques.
- Apply topical agents such as fluoride and other preventive treatments.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and overall dental health.
- Take and expose X-ray films to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Polish teeth and perform related tasks to ensure patient comfort and dental hygiene.
- Obtain and record medical histories, including vital signs, prior to treatment.
- Chart caries, periodontal conditions, and any other relevant findings during routine examinations.
- Apply pit and fissure sealants and desensitizing agents to the teeth to improve long-term oral health.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with the dental team to provide the highest quality patient care.
Skills Required
- X-ray certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Dental Hygienist.
- Bilingual - English and Spanish
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and dental health practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients and work effectively with the dental team.
- Attention to detail and ability to accurately record patient information.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on patient care and comfort.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene required.
- Valid license to practice as a Dental Hygienist issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) required.
- Primary Source Verification is required for licensure.
Additional Requirements
- Shift: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Pay Rate
- Up to $60.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
