Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst with over 5 years of experience to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen, advanced analytical skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality financial insights to guide business decision-making. This individual will play a pivotal role in establishing and leading the development of a comprehensive budgeting process from the ground up, as the company does not currently have a formal budget process in place. As a Senior FP&A Analyst, you will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and providing strategic insights to drive performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Budget Process Implementation: Take ownership of developing and implementing a formal budgeting process within the organization. Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and introduce the process, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals.
- Financial Planning & Forecasting: Lead the preparation and coordination of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial planning. Collaborate with business leaders to gather inputs and ensure alignment with organizational goals, while refining processes and structures as needed.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting: Perform detailed financial analysis to evaluate performance against budget/forecast, identifying key drivers of variances. Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management, offering actionable insights.
- Variance Analysis: Analyze and explain variances in key financial metrics, including revenue, expenses, and profitability. Provide recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
- Business Partnering: Act as a key business partner to department heads and senior management, providing financial guidance and support to influence business decisions and improve financial performance.
- Ad-Hoc Analysis: Provide ad-hoc financial analysis, including scenario modeling and business case development, to support strategic initiatives and investment decisions.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial planning processes, reporting workflows, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Financial Models: Develop and maintain complex financial models to project future performance, assess risk, and evaluate investment opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., Operations, Sales, Marketing, and HR) to gather relevant data and ensure financial assumptions are aligned with operational realities.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts, helping to build their financial skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA designation is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in FP&A, finance, or a related field, with a proven ability to manage complex financial planning and analysis functions.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level), financial modeling, and data analysis. Experience with ERP systems Great Plains/) Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and financial reporting tools (e.g., Hyperion, Adaptive Insights) is preferred.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Change Management Experience: Proven experience in leading or implementing financial process changes, particularly in developing and institutionalizing budgeting and forecasting practices.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Business Acumen: In-depth understanding of business operations and financial drivers. Ability to provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
