Position: Aerospace Welder (Fabrication Technician)
Location: Huntsville, AL
Duration: 6 Months (Possible extension)
Number of positions: 8 total spread across all shift: A, B, C and D
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and be proficient in various welding techniques. As a Welder, you will be responsible for assembling and fabricating metal structures and components, ensuring high-quality standards are met throughout the production process. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Performs welding processes on aluminum, steel, and alloy parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys and precision blending using hand tools to prepare metallic surfaces for welding and non-destructive evaluation.
Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures. Joins metal parts to form a permanent bond.
Welds metal components and parts using standard specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches and may also utilize friction stir welding (FSW) methods using solid-state joining.
Uses electrical currents or friction to create heat and bond metals.
Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
Set up and operate large, motion-controlled machines to create friction stir welds on launch vehicles.
Perform periodic maintenance on machines with complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
Accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches.
