What You’ll Be Doing As An Underwriter
- Underwrite, analyze, price and negotiate renewal accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company’s strategy and guidelines
- Develop relationships and maintain existing relationships with regional brokers and other Hiscox underwriters in the various Hiscox offices around the US
- Achieve production targets and underwrite business profitably in a high-volume environment.
- Responding to broker inquiries
Here are some of the requirements we would ideally like to see:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external personnel, including underwriting colleagues in other Hiscox offices, brokers, and customers
- Desire to learn and increase product knowledge and underwriting skill
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Internet applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- No college degree required
- Experience underwriting small business (Commercial insurance) accounts in a volume environment is preferred
- Experience handling complex customer transactions in a “Call-Center” operation
- Interest in global & national security trends as they relate to underwriting risk exposure

- Please note that this position is hybrid and requires two (2) days in our office weekly**
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
