Position: Underwriter

The Role
Hiscox USA is currently searching for a dynamic, engaging and solutions-oriented Underwriter to drive new business and underwrite complex renewal business within the Allied Healthcare sector. This position provides a unique opportunity for an Allied Healthcare specialist or a professional liability generalist to join a fast paced, dynamic team to write policies tailored to the specific requirements of the Allied Healthcare sector. We specialize in medical imaging centers, pharmacies, occupational/speech/physical therapists, home healthcare, counselors, medical consultants, medi spas, day spas, social services, dentists, veterinarians, staffing firms, and much more! Policies will be rooted in Allied Healthcare E&O, with cross sold SAM, Cyber, GL, and other PL coverages offered for qualifying risks. Risks vary greatly in size and complexity (from start-ups to large, multinational entities). What You’ll Be Doing
- Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company’s strategy and guidelines for the product line: https://www.hiscox.com/documents/brokers/ahc/1545_AHC_appetiteguide.pdf
- Develop new broker relationships and increase depth of existing broker relationships throughout region to increase production
- Engage with the national Allied Healthcare team to learn and teach collaboratively
- Maintain excellent customer service standards
- Play a key role in executing on regional plan i.e. serving as relationship manager for several key Allied Healthcare brokers and spearheading broker turnarounds.
- Obtain & maintain underwriting authority in Allied Healthcare practice area.
- Spearhead in office quoting days with top broker partners
- Monitor product results and develop ideas to increase productivity and profitability
- Consistently exceed minimum quote output numbers established by national Allied Heathcare manager
- At times, regional travel required including industry events and broker visits

- 2 years of experience in Allied Healthcare coverage; experience preferred
- Customer-centric mind-set and passionate about the power of superior customer service and offerings
- Strong understanding of sales principles, presentation, negotiation skills and demonstrate a competitive drive
- Team-oriented, ability to collaborate and desire to share information across divisions and teams to further the overall goals of the company
- Proven track record of understanding and delivering meaningful underwriting profit
- Outgoing, driven, high attention to detail and results focused mentality
- The ability to identify business needs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment
- Innate service focus which enables one to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external customers and partners
- B.A./B.S degree is preferred
- Willingness to develop business, with travel throughout the U.S. up to 25%, required

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
