JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator 1 - Instructional Media and Library is responsible for supporting both digital literacy and library operations. This role focuses on developing curriculum aligned with the Texas Technology Applications TEKS and media literacy initiatives, providing resources and support to media specialists, computer lab teachers, and librarians. Additionally, the coordinator assists with the effective management of library inventory systems and the circulation of materials. This dual focus ensures that both technology integration and library services contribute to enhancing students' learning experiences and access to resources district-wide.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop curriculum and instructional materials aligned with the Texas Technology Applications TEKS, providing resources such as scope and sequences and lesson plans to support media specialists, computer lab teachers, and librarians in delivering digital and media literacy instruction.
2. Lead district-wide media literacy initiatives, creating and coordinating resources that integrate digital skills, responsible technology use, and critical thinking about media into classroom instruction.
3. Collaborate with media specialists and educators to design and implement technology literacy and media programming, ensuring alignment with district instructional goals and promoting digital literacy.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
4. Oversee library management systems, ensuring the accurate acquisition, cataloging, organization, and circulation of materials, and participate in regular inventory audits to maintain resource integrity.
5. Work with library staff to streamline library operations, enhancing the availability and accessibility of materials and improving the overall user experience.
6. Balance digital access initiatives with traditional library services, developing strategies that meet the diverse needs of students and staff, while ensuring alignment with district strategic priorities.
7. Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years working in the district/central office of a large urban school district

SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Microsoft Office
Familiarity with media literacy and technology applications in educational settings
Experience with curriculum development and library systems management
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of the work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.
