Description: Historic New England seeks a part-time guide to conduct specialty tours and assist with regular tours and public programs as needed at the Lyman Estate.
The Lyman Estate has recently developed two new specialty tours: Lyman Estate Landscape Tour and Life of a Laborer, a Working-Class History Tour. Each tour is currently offered once per month on a Saturday with the option of adding additional tours depending on interest and possible group tour requests. We are looking for an individual with an interest in history and particularly in these topic areas to conduct these tours. We also hope this individual can learn the mansion tour to fill-in as needed.
Guides are responsible for conducting tours of the museum property and performing daily opening and closing procedures. In addition to the presentation of interpretative tours, guide responsibilities include collecting admissions, selling memberships, and assisting the Site Manager with public programs and administrative duties. Training is provided.
Qualifications: Applicants should enjoy working with the public, have an interest in history, and be comfortable working with computers. Experience in customer service desirable. Must be available 2 Saturdays/month.
