What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Guide, Southern Maine position at Historic New England?
Description: Historic New England seeks seasonal, part-time Guides to work weekends at Southern Maine sites Sarah Orne Jewett House, with an LGTQ focused narrative, and Hamilton House, a Georgian mansion and vibrant garden that has been used as a merchant’s wharf, a productive farm, and a breath-taking vacation home. In addition to the presentation of interpretative tours, guides will participate in daily care of the museum spaces and collections and assist the Site Manager with public programs and group tours. Training is provided.
Qualifications: Applicants should enjoy working with the public, have an interest in history, and be comfortable working with computers. Experience in customer service desirable. Must be available weekend days, have a flexible schedule, and commit to employment through the end of the 2025 season, May - October.
