Summary of the position:


The Advanced Technology Engineer position is responsible for developing core-technologies for air compressor products and new business with HGAP related department, HGAP Engineering and Hitachi R&D teams. Core-technologies mean compressor air-ends, new drive technologies, and new businesses related to air power. This position will focus on collaborating with all sites’ engineers, researchers, and related staff to build advanced technology for current and future businesses.


This position is located on-site in Michigan City, Indiana.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced technologies for air-ends; drive and support new businesses related to air power.
  • Drive mechanical-related preferred cost efforts to launch new technologies.
  • Collaborates with internal Engineering as well as 3rd party and academia to meet customer requirements.
  • Participates in in-person meetings to lead the issues as needed.
  • Evaluates mechanical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research to drive incremental improvements in existing and future products by applying knowledge of mechanical and Computer Aid Engineering.
  • Provide support to customers and dealers from time to time with air-end and drive technology knowledge.
  • Provide production start-up and production transfer support to components with complex engineering knowledge, depending on the business context.
  • Troubleshoots integrated systems and programs analytical equipment as required.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
  • Advanced Degree is a plus (MSME/MSMET/MBA).


Professional experience:

  • 5 years or more applied compressor industries’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Engineering experience in the design of mechanical and pneumatic/electrical control systems used in air compressor products and the air-ends with FEA and CFD skills
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead, facilitate, organize, and work effectively with cross-functional teams, and departments to execute the necessary results.
  • Proven, demonstrated ability to understand and design modern safety control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and team-building skills at all levels in the global organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work very effectively within a team/cross-functional teams and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • A detail-oriented self-starter with excellent project management skills.
  • Hands-on approach with proven analytical and troubleshooting skills in integrated systems.
  • Experience with Unigraphics NX or equivalent 3D CAD modeling experience.
  • Six Sigma Green/Black is a plus.
