Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Incoming Inspector who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Batesburg, SC.

Accountabilities:
- Inspects Commercial off the Shelf items (COTS), electronic assemblies, castings & machined components. Inspects for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, workmanship, compliance with Hitachi drawings and technical specifications.
- Creates Quality Notifications (QN), Quarantines Non-Conforming product to the appropriate area & distributes the QN via email to the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer for resolution.
- Conducts First Article Inspections (FAI), records findings on the associated forms & makes entries on the FAI SharePoint site.
- Records inspection results in via SAP
- Assists in gathering department assets for weekly calibration
Required skills/experience:
- HS diploma (or equivalent) plus 3 years of incoming inspection experience or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- CMM Certification (PC-DMIS Software (CAD & Non-CAD)
- Experience using common measuring tools such as micrometres, calliper’s, dial indicators, height gages, Shadowgraph, thread gages & hardness tester
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- Proficient use of Microsoft office suite: Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written & communication skills to clearly present data from findings
- Able to make decisions regarding product acceptance utilizing product documentation and company workmanship criteria
- Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with stakeholders
- Self-motivated nature, able to work effectively with minimum close supervision
