Deputy Plant Manager - Casting / Foundry - DISA - Ductile Iron

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Foundry Deputy Plant Manager with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in DISA molding and foundry processes. This individual will be responsible for overseeing safety, process control, quality improvement, and the overall efficiency of the foundry operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills to manage and guide our workforce effectively while driving improvements in safety, quality, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Employee Training and Development:
   • Conduct and facilitate comprehensive training programs on safety, processes, quality control, and workplace conduct.
   • Develop training materials and ensure the team is equipped to handle safety or quality issues that may arise.
   • Foster a proactive work environment by managing and motivating the workforce to stay focused, especially during equipment downtime or other operational challenges.
2. Safety and Environmental Improvement:
   • Identify, assess, and resolve any safety or environmental issues in the foundry.
   • Work independently from EHS teams to propose and implement safety improvements specific to foundry operations.
   • Leverage deep understanding of foundry equipment to maintain a safe and sustainable work environment.
3. HR Support & Workforce Management:
   • Collaborate with HR to address hiring needs, manage new employee onboarding, and ensure proper staffing levels on the production floor.
   • Collaborate with HR to handle employee relations issues, including performance management, issuing warnings, and terminations when necessary.
   • Support management in resolving conflicts and employee-related challenges.
4. Customer Relations:
   • Serve as the primary point of contact for major clients, addressing any concerns related to quality or production timelines.
   • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction, providing prompt responses to quality issues and feedback.
   • Lead the team to meet customer expectations and ensure high-quality product delivery.
5. Foundry Process & Equipment Expertise:
   • Utilize a comprehensive understanding of DISA molding machines and foundry processes to identify and implement process improvements.
   • Ensure production lines operate efficiently, meeting quality and output goals.
   • Lead initiatives for the optimization of foundry environments and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
6. Leadership and Team Development:
   • Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills to guide the workforce towards achieving operational goals.
   • Provide strategic direction, enforce discipline where necessary, and create a results-driven team culture.
   • Support less experienced team members and ensure proper mentorship is in place.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years working with DISA molding machines and foundry processes.
• Leadership: Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage large teams effectively.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of foundry safety standards, equipment, and process improvement techniques.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, capable of addressing HR, customer, and employee issues professionally.
• Customer Relations: Experience dealing with high-profile customers, with a focus on quality assurance and timely issue resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a multinational environment.
• Proficient in driving continuous improvement programs in safety and quality standards.
