What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Counsel (Bilingual Korean/English) position at HL Mando America Corp?
Job Purpose:
To Support Head Legal Counsel and coordinate with Global Legal Center in Korea in providing the following legal supports to HL Mando’s business in America Region
Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
- Draft, review, and assist in negotiating general and commercial agreements.
- Draft and review documents required for corporate transactions.
- Provide legal advice to the business in relation to commercial law, corporate law, antitrust law, intellectual property law, labor & employment law, immigration law, and product liability issues.
- Manage investigations, litigations, and disputes.
- Manage corporate formality and regulatory reporting work.
- Review and establish internal polices and guidelines based on legal standards and HL Mando Group’s guidelines (including conducting internal audits to verify compliance with policies and guidelines).
- Monitor legislation, regulations, and compliance matters that could impact the business.
- Provide and supervise legal training to internal clients.
- Manage performance, relationship, and budget with external counsel.
- Coordinate with HL Mando Global Legal Team in Korea.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in the U.S or equivalent degree from non-U.S. foreign law school.
- Qualified to practice law in any state of the U.S.
- At least 2 years’ experience in private practice and/or in-house.
- Experience in automotive industry and/or labor & employment law preferred.
- Excellent drafting and verbal / written communication skills in both English and Korean.
- Excellent strategic and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and the ability to apply legal knowledge and experience within a dynamic commercial environment.
- Able to manage expectations and deadlines and deliver within an appropriate timeframe.
- Able to manage conflicts and stressful situations in an efficient way.
- Able to collaborate efficiently across different teams and departments.
Technical Competencies:
- Solid computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point).
