HMSHost by Avolta is seeking an experienced and dynamic Field Human Resources Business Partner to join our team at LaGuardia Airport (LGA). This senior HR role is responsible for overseeing HR functions across one or more branches with high sales volume within a region, managed by a Senior Director of Operations. The HRBP will work closely with the Sr. DO, providing strategic and technical expertise to address HR challenges and ensure smooth operations. This role also involves collaboration with the Regional HR Director (HRD) to communicate key trends, opportunities, and risks within the branch/cluster.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and maintain a trusted advisor relationship with the Sr. Director of Operations.
- Advise the Sr. Director of Operations and management on employee engagement, retention, training, and discipline issues, and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Establish and maintain a visible and positive HR presence within branches, engaging associates at all levels.
- Lead and direct assigned HR staff to resolve Associate Relations issues before they escalate.
- Foster positive labor relations by participating in arbitrations, grievances, contract negotiations, and ensuring managers understand their CBA.
- Partner with departments such as Loss Prevention, Accounting, and Supply Chain to support operations’ objectives.
- Oversee the full recruiting lifecycle and manage onboarding, orientation, and training programs.
- Maintain regular communication with peers and the Regional HR Director on HR trends, issues, and the state of HR within assigned locations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws, collective bargaining agreements, and corporate HR policies, providing counsel on complex HR matters.
- Conduct confidential HR investigations as necessary.
- Administer company and local HR policies, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization.
- Act as a mentor and resource for HR staff, providing guidance and leadership.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 7-10 years of HR experience, with 3-5 years of HR management experience (including supervising HR staff).
- Advanced technical HR knowledge, ideally demonstrated by obtaining or maintaining an HRCI SPHR certification or equivalent.
- Proven ability to develop HR strategies, associate engagement, and resolve complex HR issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak, read, and comprehend policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with associates.
- Ability to build strong, collaborative partnerships across departments.
- Strong knowledge of employment-related local, state, and federal regulations.
- Proficiency with HRIS and business software systems, including document preparation, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and direct remote teams while focusing on key HR processes.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
