Seeking an experienced CEI Roadway Inspector III for current and future FDOT construction work in the Central Florida area. FDOT Asphalt, Concrete and Earthwork experience is a must. HNTB is looking to grow our local CEI inspection team. This position will be based in Orlando, FL and surrounding counties.

This opportunity entails being responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple, complex activities within a given discipline/trade performed by the contractor in order to monitor the project compliance with plans, specifications and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with Field Engineer. Performs non-routine and moderately complex assignments normally related to multiple and/or medium to large projects.

What You'll Do
- Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
- Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform complicated mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
- Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
- Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 6 years of construction related experience.
- All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements
- Identifies and resolves complex change conditions.
- Mentors staff and coordinates schedules.
- Identifies and resolves complex field issues with the contractor.
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
- Recognizes and communicate issues with contractor and resolves in the field. Escalates field issues to Project Engineer if not able to resolve at Sr. Inspector level.
- Calculates and tracks pay quantities.
- Understands changed conditions, and able to track and document claims and other issues.
- Understands Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills
- At least four (4) years of verifiable FDOT CEI experience.
- FDOT certifications (CTQP Asphalt I &II, & Earthwork I & II, ACI Concrete Field Technician, CTQP Final Estimates I & II, Advanced MOT, IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector)
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to work with others, take direction, give direction and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Willingness to learn as well as train and guide subordinate inspectors.
- Review other inspector's daily work reports.
- Knowledge of FDOT Electronic Earthwork Records System (ERS)
- Working knowledge and ability to enter samples in FDOT's Materials Acceptance and Certification System (MAC)
- Schedule and direct other inspectors work hours.
