Job Description:

Hobart Brothers, an Illinois Tool Works Company, is a recognized leader among aluminum welding manufacturers worldwide. The team in Traverse City, Michigan is seeking to add a Maintenance Technician to the 3rd shift. Typical weekly schedule is Sunday to Thursday 11 PM to 7 AM, overtime as needed. In this role you will work closely with the maintenance team and operators to troubleshoot repairs and perform preventative maintenance on machinery throughout the facility.

How you will make an impact:

  • Review and prioritize fix-it tickets for machine repairs
  • Perform machine repairs
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks
  • Machine/fabricate machine parts using drill press, lathe, mill, welding, etc.
  • Snow removal

What you need to do to be successful in this role:

Technical Skills

  • Troubleshooting Expertise: Possess mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic/hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills to maintain equipment efficiency.
  • Precision Machining: Demonstrate proficiency in measurement, layout, drilling, reaming, threading, welding, and cutting for fabrication and repair tasks.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Understand mechanical drive systems, bearing maintenance, and replacement procedures.
  • Workplace Safety: Ability to work at heights using proper safety equipment and protocols.
  • Technical Proficiency: Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and prints accurately.
  • Equipment Operation: Utilize test and measurement tools such as multimeters, calipers, and micrometers effectively.
  • Electrical Systems: Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and electrical control systems is a plus.

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Must be a team player and self-starter with the ability to work independently. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with operators, engineers, and non-technical personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Position requires 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
