The Hockomock YMCA is seeking responsible and vigilant Opener Lifeguards to ensure the safety of all swimmers in and around our aquatics area from 5:30 AM to 8:00/8:30 AM, Monday–Friday. Additional shifts are available. This role involves preventing accidents, maintaining constant surveillance, and responding swiftly to emergencies. Lifeguards help create a safe and welcoming environment for all members.

Essential Functions:
- Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area and respond to emergencies within 10 seconds.
- Prevent accidents by enforcing pool rules firmly and fairly.
- Stay rescue-ready with proper equipment at all times.
- Assist with swim tests, chemical testing, cleaning, and organizing equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting members.
- Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
- Uphold the YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Must be currently Lifeguard certified (including open water) by the YMCA, American Red Cross, or another approved certifying organization.
- Must be certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration by a nationally recognized certifying organization.
- Must be 16 years of age or older and meet all eligibility requirements for lifeguard certification.
- Ability to stay calm and respond effectively in emergencies.
