Hospital Assistant Level 1 Job Description
General Description of Position:
The Hospital Assistant assists within all aspects of our hospital, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients. We expect persons to be respectful, mature, eager to learn, dependable, and dedicated to exceling in our industry.
Successful candidates will believe in high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the knowledge, positive upbeat attitude, and technical skills to make them happen. This position focuses significantly on hospital cleanliness. Our Hospital Assistants are essential in ensuring the ease in the flow of patient care.
Schedule:
Full Time: 7:30am- 5:30pm/close
Must be available to work Saturdays: 7:30am-1:30pm/close
40 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Conducts cleaning duties such as scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping of floors, walls and shelves throughout the practice, including storage and prep areas. Washes dishes and buckets, washes, dries, folds, and puts away laundry, scoops outdoor area, disposes of pet waste, and removes trash.
- Uses cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
- Performs necessary cleaning and maintenance of all equipment and tools used in job assignments.
- Unpacks and properly stocks inventory.
- Provide compassionate care for pets.
- Perform basic animal handling and restraint.
- Clean cages, runs, hospital facilities, exam rooms, treatment area, bathrooms, lobby and offices.
- Any other duties as assigned
Hospital Assistant Job Qualifications:
- Ability to humanely handle pets under various circumstances.
- Ability to exercise good judgment with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to unpack and move supplies up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be comfortable performing physical activities which require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, jogging, throwing, and handling of materials and/or animals.
- Ability to work on feet throughout entire shift.
- Ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a respectful, mature, and genuine manner towards all other team members.
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
