Overview
Hodges Imported Cars, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant.
The Staff Accountant performs a wide range of duties related to processing records, maintaining general ledger account, and performing ongoing reconciliations of key accounts as assigned by the Controller.
Although not required, a candidate holding an Associate's Degree or a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Duties
- Preparing monthly/quarterly journal entries as needed
- Processing of vendor invoices into accounts payable and maintaining ongoing reconciliations of balances due
- Preparing disbursements for signature and mailing
- Assisting with various kinds of accounts receivable such as from banks, manufacturers, retail customers and others; reconcile accounts, conduct follow-up, analyze aged accounts
- Processing and posting accounting for vehicle sales (deal costing/posting, funding, incentive collecting)
- Preparing daily Bank Deposits and Daily Bank reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end close procedures
- Answering accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Following company’s established accounting processes.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of all internal records related to the business
- Other job duties as assigned
Skills
- Some work experience in accounting but automotive specific is not required
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Comfortable learning and working with multiple software tools
- Willing to cross-train to accomplish the goals and needs of the office staff
- Aptitude for mathematics
- Strong analytical skills
- Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and comfortable working in a fast paced environment

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education:
- Associate or Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
